With over 20 years of experience as an Elite eventing groom managing the day to day care of Phillip Duttons Olympic, World Equestrian Games and 5* horses care, Emma brings a unique knowledge base to sportsmassage. She believes bodywork plays an essential role in keeping horses happy and comfortable in their work.
Because of this, she has become a certified Practitioner of the Wilson-Meagher Method of Equine Sportsmassage. Over her many years as a professional groom, she has worked closely with Jo-Ann Wilson, team physio for the USA, who is one of the founders of this course. She has seen how much horses benefit from her skillset. The completion of this course, along with her current knowledge allows her to approach equine bodywork and management from a wide range of skills.
No matter what level or discipline all horses deserve to feel their best. If your horse has resistant issues such as feeling stiff to one side, struggling in lateral movement, hollowing out in his back or any related issues, muscle tightness could be a primary cause. Alleviating muscle tightness provides horses with freedom of motion.
The American Massage Therapy Foundation funded the scientific investigation of the Wilson-Meagher method. The method combines 3 techniques direct pressure, cross fiber friction, and compressions. Interested in the science? Click below to read the paper.
